Chuck Taylor® All Star® Sailor Jerry

Thursday, August 23rd, 2007

I was pretty psyched when I spotted these in Sungei Wang 2 days ago. I wanted to get them immediately but thought that there might be nicer ones available. So I checked out the Sailor Jerry range on converse.com and saw that I made the right choice. I called up Converse in Sunway Pyramid and collected them after work. Believe it or not, being a Pro-Keds fan, this is actually my first pair of Converse!

01> The box itself is pretty cool with their 2 trademark silver-ringed holes.

02> I’m a sucker for tattoo art, especially when there are roses and snakes involved.

03> RRP: RM139.90

04> "DEATH OR GLORY" it says.

Haruhi Suzumiya 1/8 PVC by Max Factory

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

This is Haruhi Suzumiya, the main character from The Meloncholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya. Standing at 1/8 scale and always released in limited pieces (thousands by the batch), Max Factory drove every otaku to the very end of their moe-resisting limits. They were ALL sold out in Japan within HOURS.

I managed to get mine in the very last minute from HLJ and flown in from Japan straight to office.

The details are great, paint job fantastic, almost flawless.. as one can always expect of Max Factory. It’s currently unavailable and pre-order for the 5th re-release has just ended! XD

01-03> All shots were taken in macro mode with my Sony T50.

04> Comes with a nice, simple base.

05> Shots are slightly off-focus, but not bad for freehand without mini-tripod.

06> "No peeping!"

07> Added motion blur to her finger to recreate the scene from Haruhi’s trademark dance.

Streamyx is FUBAR (fucked up beyond all recognition)

Sunday, August 19th, 2007

If you’re a torrent user like me who downloads movies, animes and music, you’ll realise that the downloads are not moving! wtf??? HERE’S WHY:

P2P/torrent users (20% of Streamyx subscribers) are using up most of the bandwith, slowing down everyone else’s browsing speed. So TM NET decides to pull the brake on all P2P activities, reducing my fucking speed from a glorious 120KB/s to a puny max of about 6KB/s (average 1KB/s). In plain English, BEFORE: 4 movies/1 day. AFTER: 1 movie/10 days. HOW FARKING PATHETIC!!!!

This control-action is called "throttling". TM NET is throttling our P2P bandwith.

According to TM NET Customer Care Service, this practice is not exceptional, and is already exercised overseas. Well yes, Australian ISP Exetel did it too, but they only throttled from noon to midnight, meaning P2P is back to full speed after 12am. TM NET is throttling us 24 HOURS a day, EVERYDAY! FUBAR!!!!!

You know, I really don’t get it. They were so blardy hardsell on their upgrade offers, and I thought, cool.. why not, 4 movies a day.. And so I upgraded my 512KB to 1MB… and today… this is what I get. This is what we all get!!!

The entire Malaysia is practically running on Streamyx, and what the hell do they do with the profits? May I kindly suggest INCREASE BANDWITH fuckheads!

If I only needed to farrrrking browse the web, can some genius from TM NET please explain why I need a 1MB line in the first place!!!!!!!!!!!?????????!!!!!!!!!!

Writing to TM NET is a waste of time. Hundreds have done it. I’ve no movies to watch since my downloads are dead. That’s why I’m here, and you’re reading this. Please tell a friend that Streamyx is FUBAR. Thank you.

MTS (Malaysian Tarantula Society)

Tuesday, August 7th, 2007

I’m glad to have discovered a great bunch of people within this steadily growing community. Although I’ve only one tarantula, but eight scorpions, it goes to show that MTS (Malaysian Tarantula Society) is open to all arachnophiles. If you’re into tarantulas, scorpions, centipedes (yes! not limited to eight-legged friends only), geckos, skinks or any other exotics, do check out www.MTSociety.com

Whether you’re new or an experienced exotic keeper, you can always gain and share information on our forum at www.mtsociety.com/forums

Besides regular gatherings, the MTS Arachnid Exhibition at Sunway College was pretty cool. The next one is coming up real soon.

For immediate inquiries, you may reach Randy (President of MTS) at +6017 2966 908.

WWW.POPERROR.COM is Now Live

Sunday, August 5th, 2007

I’d like to announce that WWW.POPERROR.COM has been successfully launched today!

After many many months of single-handedly struggling with flash, action scripts and shit like that (I’m just a copywriter… BUT SWORN TO THE WAYS OF DIY!!!!! haahah), I’ve finally got it all put together and registered for my own host and domain from www.internet-webhosting.com (a server in Subang).

I’ve got 2gigs of space and 20gigs of bandwidth!!!!!!!! But dun la purposely reload thousand times.. kns I’ll whack kao you. THANKS to Shukri, Zaheer, Chee Heng for the flash tutorials, and Desmond for the host/domain recommendation plus html tips. All blog images are now directly loaded from poperror.com and it’s ultra-fast!!!. Hope you like the new speed :D

WHAT IS POP ERROR? I’ve gotten this question very frequently. So lets do it properly..

FAQ (Frequently Asked Question)

Q: What is Pop ERROR?
A: I dunno la.. really.. I have no idea. It sounds nice. Just because I’m a copywriter doesn’t mean you should take advantage of this situation and pressure me rite? :_( Ok loh.. If not satisfied then can choose one of the following dog shit answers:

dog shit A1: 25 years ago, I was a mistake (error) that popped out of my 21 year old mum. "Don’t repeat the same mistake I made ah" my dad said. "So.. I’m the mistake la?" I asked. "Don’t be so sensitive lah" he replied.

dog shit A2: I have this need every time, to position myself apart from everyone else. To avoid mainstream content/choices/patterns that seriously encouraged sheep mentality. After a gruesome childhood and teenage phase (that only Marilyn Manson, Smashing Pumpkins and Silverchair managed to get me through), the world was seriously getting smaller with how great the media power has grown and become. It was harder and almost impossible for anyone to isolate themselves from pop culture.. from the Nike’s and Adidas’ you wear, to the Nokia’s and Sony’s you own, to the KFC and Mc Donald’s you consume, and MSN and Yahoo you use.

What happened to the underdogs? In today’s conform or die world, where great names like Lotus can go bankrupt and sell themselves out to ridiculous Proton, the underdogs die. Every radio station is virtually filled with cheap lyrics and meaningless chart-toppers.. nothing more than mere CONSUMER-DRIVEN pop music.

Then, I look at Tokyo. It’s congested, busy and it gets smaller by the day. More importantly, it has everything the world has to offer. It IS pop heaven, filled with infinite popism. And yet I wonder, how are their society so capable of presenting themselves as individuals?

They have manipulated pop culture and made it their own. A good example is their fashion sense. In other words, don’t fight what you cannot win. Play along and play it to your advantage.

The day I decided to join this crowd of pop-favouritism (like blogging), I declared it an error. I played along, but did not conform.
